A very complicated question. I just had a convo about my aunt's former husband (he has passed away now). He was extremely abusive to her, but their son (my cousin) loved him dearly. I couldn't fault my cousin for loving his dad even thought he was an awful person to my aunt. Of course, this doesn't compare to your situation, but family dynamic is so complicated T.
