drifting in the pond
our eyes met, but I am calm
humans aren’t your food

Typically, alligators do not hunt humans, so seeing one in the wild should not trigger or cause too much panic. Well, as long as they don’t feel threatened and you don’t attempt to feed them, you should be ok, lol.

If they happen to find their way inside your house or on your patio, you might end up having some issues. Call the animal control, don’t try to wrestle a gator yourself unless you know what you are doing. Plus, gators are a protected species and someone can be charged with a felony if they harm a gator, except if they are protecting themselves.

Seeing a gator in a lake or pond in Florida is pretty typical, as we have over a million gators swimming around us every day. Hence the reason if you are near most swampy bodies of water, there will be a sign warning not to feed and to keep your distance from the gators. Luckily, our beaches are safe, there are no gators…
