I am not sure why this is a thing on this level, but from the little that I know, and looking from the outside in, it sounds like you were triggered from your trauma and it sounds like the young lady (not idiot) was triggered from hers as well. Therefore, your perspectives will be different as you approach such a complex scenario. Both perspectives are valid and based on lived experiences.
