I believe "man" has tainted Christianity from the beginning into what it has become today. That is our flaw. Absolutely, it's hard to survive in this world and remain virtuous. Nobody is perfect and there will be mistakes or misjudgments, but your foundation in Christianity sounds solid, and less tainted by the evils of this world. Continue to live in hope.
