I Got Paid and Rejected on Medium and Both Felt Equally Amazing…
This all happened in the same month and I am jumping for joy.
I took a leap and reached out to one of the publications on Medium because I loved the humor behind their stories. I thought I was funny, so I submitted a post. I haven’t heard back, so I will assume that I didn’t make the cut. Damnit, I really thought I was funny. In my head, I’m funny and my friends and my mom laugh at my jokes. Damn them, for giving me false hope. Ugh, oh well. I guess humor is not my thing in writing, so I will leave that alone. But this rejection has pushed me to becoming a better writer. You could say that it lit a fire under my ass to step my game up. So, I have embraced this rejection, accepted it and will move on from it.
On the flip side, I got paid on Medium and it felt incredible. I didn’t get paid a lot, well it was damn near nothing BUT, for the simple fact that I was able to get a few people to read and like my stories, that was enough for me. It tells me that someone found what I wrote interesting and thought enough to even throw out a few claps. So satisfying.
