I literally have a piece in draft about sticks and stones. Michael, we are around the same age (I assume) and we grew up in a time where we had no social media - we weren't being influenced or minds weren't being poisoned. If you liked a kid, that kid became your friend. NYC is not a reflection of the whole though, and of course, others could have had different experiences inside the city as well.
