I'm a bit conflicted here. I believe racism is a major obstacle, but I also believe that if an individual makes the choice to not let the gatekeepers stand in their way, then they can succeed. And, it does take a strong support system to drive that. I understand that this is easier said than done, and the success rate for this is hindered because of racism.
This is a topic that needs deeper discussion because I think both sides of the argument have validity.
