Unfortunately, I have seen emotional incest play out in my own family. And my aunt doesn't quite understand the damage that she has caused her son. I will not go into details, but she set him up to fail in the real world. I believe some mothers are great at being there for their children, but there are many toxic mothers who do more harm than good and it's more detrimental to that child when their father is not present in these relationships.
